A silent film made by the Science Sixth Form between 1962 and 1965. The filming was done by D C Castle and D E Elmer and the production assistants were P J Hunt and B C Pearson. I obtained a copy of this film from ex teacher L Sharp and I have uploaded it to allow a wider audience to see it. I look forward to comments, particularly those which shed light on the many staff and pupils that are fe...
The Allendale “Tar Barl” festival NYE 2017
Переглядів 6646 років тому
From Wikipedia: The town's New Year celebrations involve lighted tar barrels that are carried on the heads of revellers called guisers. This tradition dates back to 1858. It appears to have originated from the lighting of a silver band that were carolling at New Year. They were unable to use candles to light their music due to the strong winds, so someone suggested a tar barrel be used. Having ...

Just discovered this man. I really like his special style of blues. Gritty and original . Just like the blues should be.
Surely, this represents all that was wrong with Victorian England......Work?
@westsiderollerz7 see the match yesterday? 0.o
Is there a commercial dvd release of this concert? Regards.
O I though that was how wrought Iron was made still, after all it is a certain process they use.
No, it's a museum showing life in Victorian England.
OMFG danny is my cuzion r.l it is so cool
interesting, thank you. looks like those gentlemen work for there money
When you hammer steel -or in this case, slide it through a rolling mill- that of course compresses it, but it also *adds energy* to it. The steel then radiates that energy in the form of heat and light.
nice job on the editing. thanks for uploading. i'm especially impressed by how they sound on wedding dress. faster than the album version. maybe better.
Not exactly intimate I have to agree.
thanks for this HughTwo, just like being there! nice selection, clear sound. gratefully yours, the word of gord
PTC Pro/Desktop (CAD in Schools Initiative). We're moving on to Pro/Engineer soon.
Fantastic!!!
when they put it through that thing that makes it longer. How the heck does it stay so hot?
is that how they do it still in 2008? by hand?
c'mon boys!
Interesting...
Excellent video! The whole process is clearly depicted.
the steel billet is drawn from the furnace and its size is reduced under the cogging hammer. it is then taken to the rolling mill where its "cogged down" on the cogging rolls, that means it becomes longer and thinner and roughly square shaped.the product can then be rolled out into a variety of shapes ie round, flats ,hexigan etc. this is not shown in this demonstration, looks like the straitener is having a go just berore the clip ends
it looks as though they are using an old piece of wrought iron chain link (good source for true wrought iron) and reworking it to a bar stock so that it may be further worked into a wrought iron product....true wrought iron is a pricy commodity these days about five times the value of steel
